Dear Students and Parents/Guardians/Relatives-
It has been a fast three years since I began running Notable Beginnings Music School in June 2008! I had just gotten married and was in the process of moving from Louisville to New Albany with my new husband when I took over. It was a crazy time and now seems like eons ago! In the past three years, Notable Beginnings has grown to use not only our whole building, but also the top floor of the building next door. We’ve added at least 6 teachers to our staff, grown from 50 students to over 100, and added Musikgarten classes to our offerings! It’s been a great three years, I’d say, especially when everything is saying our economy is in decline.
Even though it seems things are going well, bills are always going up. I take pride in saying that we have some of the highest paid teachers in town and have given our teachers a raise every year without raising tuition to you. We also are one of just a few places in town whose SOLE PURPOSE is teaching music lessons. We don’t sell or rent anything to help cover our costs. With that in mind, I need to raise tuition just slightly in the fall. I plan, though, a complete restructuring of our tuition rates, in addition to the slight increase.
Below you will find our new rates. If you have any questions about it, please let me know directly by phone (502.891.8898) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org). I’d be happy to explain it to you.
Effective August 2011
Registration Fees: $30/single or $40/family
Monthly Tuition-30 minute lessons (3-5 lessons per month with holidays): $95
Monthly Tuition-45 minute lessons (3-5 lessons per month with holidays): $145
Monthly Tuition-1 hour lessons (one student either with one teacher or two 30-minute lessons with two different teachers/3-5 lessons per month with holidays): $190
Family Rates: Regular tuition for first student, $5 off regular tuition each month for second student, $10 off regular tuition each month for third and subsequent students.
Recital Fee (April and October): $5 per student/$10 per family (to be paid when registering for the recital to help cover costs of the recital)
Trial Lesson/Single Lesson Fee: $25/half hour
Late Payment/Bounced Check Fee: $25 per occurrence (late payment is after the 10th of the month as payment is due the first week of the month). I usually let your first month of late payment slide, but if it becomes a pattern I will enforce this. After five months of late payments you will be required to sign up for automatic withdrawal.
Semester Plan: If you prefer to pay by semester (Aug-Dec and Jan-May), we will give you a 5% discount. Entire semester must be paid by the end of the first month (August 30 or January 30) and I need to know of your intention at the first lesson of the semester. Summer Semester (June-July) is also available for the 5% discount if NOT using the Flexplan and is due by June 15.
Beginning Summer 2012, the Flexplan rate will be $25/half hour for the first three lessons and $20 for any lessons after that PER STUDENT. As usual, Flexplan lessons must be paid in advance (by June 10) or on a monthly plan through automatic withdrawal (no monthly payments by cash/check allowed). The tuition, per student, would be as follows: 1 lesson-$25; 2 lessons-$50; 3 lessons-$75; 4 lessons-$95; 5 lessons-$115; 6 lessons-$135; 7 lessons-$155. More than 7 lessons is considered regular monthly tuition. Remember, doing the flexplan guarantees your spot for fall lessons! Discontinuing lessons for the summer does not guarantee your day and time for the fall!
Thank you for your understanding. If anything is unclear or you want to explain exactly what this will mean for your family please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
I look forward to making music with you and your family for years to come!
Kim Fanning, owner and director
