Musikgarten classes begin in June! Miss Amy had her baby at the end of March and is looking forward to finishing up the spring semester classes during the summer! Email Kim or Amy for more information! Classes will be Thursday evenings and Friday mornings – and you’ll get to meet Emma!

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians/Relatives-

It has been a fast three years since I began running Notable Beginnings Music School in June 2008!  I had just gotten married and was in the process of moving from Louisville to New Albany with my new husband when I took over.  It was a crazy time and now seems like eons ago!  In the past three years, Notable Beginnings has grown to use not only our whole building, but also the top floor of the building next door.  We’ve added at least 6 teachers to our staff, grown from 50 students to over 100, and added Musikgarten classes to our offerings!  It’s been a great three years, I’d say, especially when everything is saying our economy is in decline.

Even though it seems things are going well, bills are always going up.  I take pride in saying that we have some of the highest paid teachers in town and have given our teachers a raise every year without raising tuition to you.  We also are one of just a few places in town whose SOLE PURPOSE is teaching music lessons.  We don’t sell or rent anything to help cover our costs.  With that in mind, I need to raise tuition just slightly in the fall.  I plan, though, a complete restructuring of our tuition rates, in addition to the slight increase.

Below you will find our new rates.  If you have any questions about it, please let me know directly by phone (502.891.8898) or email (kim@notablebeginnings.com).  I’d be happy to explain it to you.

Effective August 2011

Registration Fees: $30/single or $40/family

Monthly Tuition-30 minute lessons (3-5 lessons per month with holidays): $95

Monthly Tuition-45 minute lessons (3-5 lessons per month with holidays): $145

Monthly Tuition-1 hour lessons (one student either with one teacher or two 30-minute lessons with two different teachers/3-5 lessons per month with holidays): $190

Family Rates: Regular tuition for first student, $5 off regular tuition each month for second student, $10 off regular tuition each month for third and subsequent students.

Recital Fee (April and October): $5 per student/$10 per family (to be paid when registering for the recital to help cover costs of the recital)

Trial Lesson/Single Lesson Fee: $25/half hour

Late Payment/Bounced Check Fee: $25 per occurrence (late payment is after the 10th of the month as payment is due the first week of the month).  I usually let your first month of late payment slide, but if it becomes a pattern I will enforce this.  After five months of late payments you will be required to sign up for automatic withdrawal.

Semester Plan:  If you prefer to pay by semester (Aug-Dec and Jan-May), we will give you a 5% discount.  Entire semester must be paid by the end of the first month (August 30 or January 30) and I need to know of your intention at the first lesson of the semester.  Summer Semester (June-July) is also available for the 5% discount if NOT using the Flexplan and is due by June 15.

Beginning Summer 2012, the Flexplan rate will be $25/half hour for the first three lessons and $20 for any lessons after that PER STUDENT.  As usual, Flexplan lessons must be paid in advance (by June 10) or on a monthly plan through automatic withdrawal (no monthly payments by cash/check allowed).  The tuition, per student, would be as follows:  1 lesson-$25; 2 lessons-$50; 3 lessons-$75; 4 lessons-$95; 5 lessons-$115; 6 lessons-$135; 7 lessons-$155.  More than 7 lessons is considered regular monthly tuition.  Remember, doing the flexplan guarantees your spot for fall lessons!  Discontinuing lessons for the summer does not guarantee your day and time for the fall!

Thank you for your understanding.  If anything is unclear or you want to explain exactly what this will mean for your family please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.

I look forward to making music with you and your family for years to come!

Sincerely,

Kim Fanning, owner and director

Thank you to all who came out and supported the 60 students who performed on our spring recitals this past Saturday!  They were all a smashing success, the keyboard going in and out notwithstanding, of course.

Make sure to be thinking abuout your summer plans for lessons.  You can either continue as normal on the month to month plan OR use our flexplan scheuduling if you will be traveling/etc this summer.  Please ask your teacher for more details.

Again, great job on Saturday!

Kim

MusikGarten classes start this week!  There are still spots available.  If you have any interest at all, please contact Amy Dobben about visiting a class!!  You can send her an email from the “Our Teachers” page.

We have a date set for the Fall Costume Recitals – October 23!  The recitals will be across the street at Immanuel UCC (same place as April).  I’m not sure about the times yet, but plan on there being at least two recitals, with one in the early afternoon and one towards the later afternoon.  Dependent upon interest, we may even have to do three separate recitals!

The Annex is now open.  If you’re having trouble finding your teacher, they may have moved over there!  Check the board in the main building for an update on who is in the Annex that day!

Mark your calendars now! Our MusikGarten classes will be on Tuesday evenings and Friday mornings. Please visit Amy’s site for more information, including how to register, at http://www.fortepianostudio.com.

If you sign up for the 9:30 Friday Babies class you’ll get to meet Lucas!

We have some very exciting news to share here from the world of Notable Beginnings!

First off, beginning in September we will be offering MusikGarten classes for babies through preschoolers.  Ms. Amy Dobben will be offering these wonderful opprotunities here at Notable Beginnings.  Please visit her site at www.MusikGartenLouisville.com for more information and to sign up!

Also, I’d like to welcome studio renter Grace Dell Aquilla (sp?) to our studio.  Grace will be teaching pop/rock vocal stylings here beginning in August.  She will be operating her studio independently, so you’ll need to contact her directly for information.  You can find her at www.anothercolour.com through her band.

And lastly, to accomdate all this new activity, Notable Beginnings is expanding its studio space.  Beginning in August, we will have additional studio space on the second floor of the building next door (above the salon and the vacuum cleaner store)!  There are 3 very large studios up there.  Ironically, this new space was Notable Beginnings’ original location back in 2002!  The Notable Annex, as we’re calling it, needs some cleaning up but will be ready to go by the time school is in session!

Hope to see you all soon!

Mark your calendars…the Spring Recital is next Saturday (April 24)!! It will be at Immanuel Church of Christ (right across the street) at 2pm. Hope to see you all there!

Lucas James was born on March 11, 2010 at 8:31PM. He weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and was 20 inches long. We are all doing well and I plan to start teaching again in mid-April.

Mark your calendars now!  The Spring Recital is set for April 24 at 2pm across the street at Immanuel UCC.  Sign up with your teacher.  There will be a “potluck” reception to follow, so bring a dessert or finger food to share!

Just so you know, our weather policy is as follows:

Your teacher is an independent contractor, meaning he/she handles his/her own scheduling.  If you are wondering if there are lessons, please contact your teacher directly.  They have final say over whether they are coming in that day.  If you need contact info for your teacher, give me a call at the main number and I can get it for you.  Thank you!
